Lueder Construction is pleased to be a part of the Blackstone District’s rejuvenation. Our company’s work is very visible there, including most prominently, the renovation and additions to the historic Blackstone Hotel. The existing eight stories that rise into the skyline shadow the new annex being constructed to the west. That annex will include guest rooms, meeting rooms and other common spaces. The renovations for the hotel include 205 guest rooms, several restaurants, a swimming pool in a resort-style setting and almost 11,000 square feet of meeting space including the restored rooftop Grand Ballroom. Richard Nixon announced his first term presidential candidacy from that ballroom.
The development team of Clarity Development and GreenSlate announced that the hotel, set to open in 2020, will carry the flag of Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, the first in the State of Nebraska.
“Bringing the Historic Blackstone Hotel back to life was a dream that we couldn’t have even imagined when we began,” said Jay Lund, Principal of GreenSlate Development. “The rich history of this building and its significance to Omaha is incredible and what we are creating will be remembered for many generations to come. We are truly honored and humbled to continue to work on the District and the hotel project in particular.”
